Dedicated to Love

We met Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf on a Valentine weekend flight. She sat in front of us, next to her encased cello. By the time we arrived to Minneapolis we had decided to attend her university concert the next evening, along with our friends, Christal and Gil. Mairi dedicated a love song to us, “One Hand One Heart” from West Side Story. It was surely one of the most beautiful highlights of this last month. Joyfully, we also heard from one of our two missing sons. He is struggling but alive and trying. Our family feels more complete. We also had a wonderful visit from Pat & Barb Ceasar (Memphis) and a spirited visit from “Sunshine” Chadwick (Colorado), one of our mission student volunteers.

Cathy is nearing her 24-month diagnosis-anniversary (March 13th), the time marker by which 95% of people with Glioblastoma die. Typically, Cathy will accomplish yet another amazing 5% status, but this last month did include more glio-decline. Steroids are now part of her twice-a-day medicine packs, and for the first of several times, morphine was administered to rescue her intense, random pains. Incontinence races to the bathroom are also now part of our daily excitement. We are managing. Although our travel days may be over, we continue to be so blessed, especially by our family and friends. Thank you, God. We love You.
